AI assistants settle in the daily lives of young people

42% of 18-25 year olds make it daily use, it is double a year ago. 80% of young people interviewed by Heaven use it at least once a week.

The AI assistants settle in the daily life of young people: 42% of 18-25 year olds use it at least once a day, it is double what was measured a year ago, when they were 21% to do so, according to “Born AI”, study by the Heaven agency. Almost 80% of young people questioned have “at least weekly” use of generative AI tools. Contact with these tools is now close to the ceiling, since 93% of young people questioned say they used a chatgpt type service in the last six months, seven more points than in December 2024.

The use rate is almost identical between boys (93%) and girls (94%) aged 18 to 25. It is also the same whether you are still a student or already an employee (94%). People in caesura or job search use it a little less (87%), depending on the study. Note a strong use both on mobile (88.1%) and on PC (69.1%). Important fact: AI assistants are present in the form of application in three quarters of young people’s smartphones, it is 9 points more than six months ago. And that’s not all: 19% of young people say they are regularly interacting by voice with AI.

No surprise, Chatgpt remains the most popular of all AI tools, cited as used by 84.6% of those questioned, followed by My AI (Snapchat AI), with 43.4%. Note, however, the dazzling breakthrough of Meta AI, available only since March 2025 in France, which with 35.6% has already exceeded the gemini level (32.8%) to position itself in third place. There followed, in order, Copilot (24.4%), Character.ai (21%), Grok (12.2%), Cat (11.5%), Perplexity (10.3%) and Gamma (9%). “The other services mentioned often appear to be integrated AI in other applications, as with Canva, or professional AI”, indicate the authors of the study by citing, among others, Turbo AI, Sora, Notebooklm, Polybuzz, etc.

These results illustrate a use largely turned to the search for information, with 92% of young people who use generative AI for this purpose, but also for specifically school or professional purposes (84.4%). On this point, the young people interviewed are still quite divided between the feeling of cheating with the AI (48%) and the perception that must be put at the risk of being disadvantaged (54%). The majority (81%) find efficiency gains but remains aware of the risk of obtaining false results. Despite this, AI assistants are already positioning themselves as the 4e Source of information most worthy of confidence in the perception of those questioned, behind the teachers, the search engines and the parents, but in front of Wikipedia, the media and influencers … Note that 71% of respondents declare that AI saves time in their daily tasks. Even more: 45% of respondents say they discuss with an AI “just for fun”.

Interesting fact for advertisers: 41% of young people say they use AI to obtain recommendations or advice to prepare an outing or a trip, one in three young people indicates that they have already used an AI as part of a search to decide on an purchase, and even 15% of them declare that they have already purchased a product recommended by an AI. “And a large consensus appears that the use of AI will be stronger,” concludes the study.

All these results come out of an online survey carried out this June with 495 young adults aged 18 to 25, embellished with qualitative interviews with ten young people.
