Comfort as a gentle ideology

Every sustainable technological transformation starts with a story. The one that accompanies artificial intelligence today is old and familiar. It talks about comfort, fluidity, saving time. It promises the disappearance of unnecessary effort, the reduction of mental load, the permanent optimization of our choices.

Digital commerce was one of the first areas of expression of this soft ideology. Compare dozens of offers in just a few seconds, buy in one click, no longer have to remember your bank details. Each innovation was presented as obvious, almost indisputable progress.

Artificial intelligence is part of this continuity, but it extends its logic to an unprecedented point. It no longer just makes the decision easier. She begins to take charge of her. An agent who automatically selects a consumer product, renews a subscription, or arbitrates between several energy suppliers imposes nothing. It simplifies.

This shift is rarely experienced as a dispossession. It is seen as a relief. Delegating becomes a rational way to free oneself from a choice considered tedious, secondary, without apparent stakes. The decision is no longer an act to be assumed, but a friction to be eliminated.

By agreeing to delegate decisions deemed secondary, we redefine what we consider worthy of attention. What is no longer worth deciding becomes what can be automated. And what can be automated ultimately ceases to be questioned.

Through commerce, it is not only our relationship to purchasing that is transformed. It is our relationship to the will. To responsibility. At the very idea of ​​choosing.
