The JDN presents a new widget of the main capital links in AI. A tool to quickly visualize major connections in the sector.
With AI, everything moves very quickly, both progress and investments. As advances in generative AI accelerate, equity investments are increasing. Anthropic, OpenAI, Nvidia, Google… The capital links between the AI giants are becoming more complex day by day. Now, every major player in the ecosystem is connected, directly or indirectly.
To try to capture this ecosystem, we have chosen to represent it in the form of an interactive widget. In the center, the AI giants; at the top, investors (individuals and companies); at the bottom, the main start-ups owned by these same giants. The whole provides a synthetic visualization of investments and highlights, at a glance, the main capitalistic links which structure the AI ecosystem across the Atlantic.
On the method side, we relied solely on public data: official announcements, declared funding rounds, investor reports. The exercise is in no way exhaustive: a large part of the capital of the AI giants passes through private equity, unpublished participations or internal arrangements of which almost no details are made public. Furthermore, only the most media-visible start-ups leave enough traces to allow reliable analysis, which mechanically limits the scope observed.
We have therefore selected only those players for whom the capital links are documented, significant and sufficiently established to avoid any speculation. In other words, the names presented are those whose financial or strategic impact is proven in the ecosystem. The exact amounts and levels of control remain largely opaque. But despite these gray areas, mapping offers a solid vision of the major forces at work and makes it possible to identify the structuring connections in the sector.
