Serious AI is therefore not the one that responds the fastest or with the most creativity. It is the one that justifies its analyses, respects regulatory frameworks, guarantees the confidentiality of data and is part of a clear chain of responsibility.

Why sovereignty is not a luxury, but a necessity

Technological dependence has become one of the major challenges of the 21st century. Entrusting our strategic, financial, legal and administrative data to infrastructures entirely controlled outside of Europe would be a historic error.

Digital sovereignty is not a protectionist reflex: it is a condition of economic and democratic security.

Can we accept that the analysis of the documents which structure our markets, our courts or our public policies is based on systems of which we control neither the training data, nor the architecture, nor the rules of use?

Serious AI must be controllable, auditable and governable. This requires European players capable of designing technologies adapted to local constraints, European law and the requirements of the future AI Act.

It is precisely this challenge that a new generation of French solutions embodies: AI engines designed from the outset for regulated environments, and not general public tools cobbled together a posteriori for professional uses.

From experimental AI to industrial AI

For a long time, AI was confined to laboratories and “pilot projects”. Many companies have multiplied experiments without ever succeeding in moving into production.

Today, we are entering a new phase: that of industrial AI.

This means robust, field-tested systems integrated into business processes that can operate at scale without sacrificing compliance.

Choosing our digital destiny

Will we accept effective but opaque artificial intelligence, decided elsewhere, trained on data that is not ours and aligned with interests that are not necessarily European? Or will we build a useful, responsible and sovereign AI, capable of serving our institutions, our businesses and our citizens while respecting the law and our values?

This choice cannot be postponed until tomorrow. It is happening today, through the technologies we develop, the rules we set and the solutions we adopt.

A collective responsibility

The future of AI in France and Europe does not only depend on engineers or start-ups: it also depends on public decision-makers, regulators and business leaders.

We must have a clear ambition:

· Invest sustainably in European technologies,

· Support actors capable of scaling up,

· And demand guarantees of transparency, traceability and compliance for any AI deployed in critical sectors.

Artificial intelligence will either be a new instrument of dependence or a lever of sovereignty.

This choice is now ours: it will have a lasting impact on our economy, our institutions and our democracy.
